Preventative Maintenance Program

Q: What is Beacon’s Preventative Maintenance Program?

A: Beacon’s Preventative Maintenance Program is built to help Florida homeowners prevent breakdowns, reduce surprise repairs, and keep air conditioners running more reliably through long cooling seasons. Instead of waiting for a no-cool problem in the middle of summer, the program focuses on regular care and catching issues early — when they are usually easier to address.

Beacon now offers two maintenance plan options: Basic and Premium. The biggest update is this: if you have a maintenance performed on your air conditioner by Beacon, you are automatically a Preventative Maintenance Plan - Basic customer. Every AC maintenance comes with the Basic plan.

Our goal is simple: keep your comfort system reliable, efficient, and easier to maintain year-round — with help from our friendly technicians in yellow.

Why preventative maintenance is important in Florida

Q: Why is preventative maintenance important?

A: Florida systems run hard. Heat, humidity, and long run-times can expose airflow restrictions, condensate drain buildup, electrical wear, and coil dirt faster than many homeowners expect. If those issues are not addressed early, they can reduce comfort, increase strain on the system, and eventually lead to breakdowns.

With regular maintenance, our friendly technicians in yellow inspect and tune your system to help spot common problems before they become major repairs. That can help support better efficiency, more dependable cooling, and fewer surprise no-cool calls.

What’s included in a typical maintenance visit

Q: What happens during a maintenance visit?

A: Beacon’s maintenance visits are focused on the areas that most often affect comfort, reliability, and safe AC operation. During your appointment, our technician will typically:

  • Inspect system operation in cooling mode and verify thermostat behavior.
  • Inspect outdoor coil and cabinet; clean accessible coil surfaces as needed.
  • Inspect the indoor unit/air handler area for visible issues.
  • Check electrical connections, capacitors, and contactors for signs of wear.
  • Inspect and clear the condensate drain line and address algae buildup when appropriate.
  • Inspect filter area and airflow conditions (customer-supplied filter changes as needed).
  • Visually inspect refrigerant lines and insulation.
  • Look for early warning signs that may require repair recommendations.

Important: A maintenance visit is not the same as a major repair or deep chemical coil restoration. If additional labor or parts are needed, Beacon will explain what was found and provide options before any work is performed.

The two preventative maintenance plans (Basic & Premium)

Q: What are the new plan options?

A: Beacon now offers two Preventative Maintenance Plan options so homeowners can choose the level of ongoing AC care and benefits that fit their home and system use.

Preventative Maintenance Plan - Basic

This is Beacon’s basic complimentary plan and it is included with any AC maintenance provided by Beacon. If you schedule and complete maintenance on your air conditioner, you are automatically enrolled as a Basic plan customer.

  • 1 visit per year
  • Continues until canceled
  • Annual renewal contact from Beacon (you may cancel, postpone, or upgrade)
  • 10% off HVAC service calls
  • 10% off HVAC labor to install parts

Preventative Maintenance Plan - Premium

The Premium plan is designed for homeowners who want to stay ahead with bi-annual maintenance reminders and a more proactive maintenance schedule.

  • 2 visits per year
  • Continues until canceled
  • Annual renewal contact from Beacon (you may cancel, postpone, or upgrade)
  • 20% off HVAC parts
  • 20% off HVAC labor to install parts
  • 20% off emergency HVAC service calls
  • 5% off replacement HVAC installations

Note: Beacon will contact you for renewal reminders, but we will not provide service without authorization. You may cancel at any time.

How often should AC maintenance be done?

Q: How often should maintenance be done?

A: Many Florida homeowners benefit from at least one professional AC maintenance visit per year, which is the foundation of Beacon’s Basic plan. Homes with heavier system use, older equipment, or homeowners who want more proactive care often choose two visits per year through Beacon’s Premium plan.

Florida heat and humidity can keep systems running for long periods, so more frequent checkups can be helpful for catching drain, airflow, and wear-related issues early.

What changed in Beacon’s maintenance program?

Q: What is the biggest change to the program?

A: The biggest change is that every Beacon AC maintenance now includes the Basic Preventative Maintenance Plan. That means if you schedule maintenance, you automatically become a Basic plan customer and receive the Basic plan benefits while active.

If you want expanded discounts and two visits per year, you can ask Beacon about upgrading to the Premium plan.

Quick checklist before your maintenance visit

Want to make the most of your maintenance appointment? This quick prep can help the visit go smoothly:

  • Replace/locate your filter: If you have a spare filter, set it aside so we can confirm size and condition.
  • Clear access: Make sure the indoor unit and outdoor unit are easy to reach (move storage, plants, or debris).
  • Note comfort issues: Tell us about hot/cold rooms, unusual noises, weak airflow, or times your system struggles most.
  • Share thermostat concerns: If schedules, Wi-Fi settings, or temperature swings are a problem, mention it.
  • Mention drain concerns: If you’ve had water near the air handler, backups, or algae clogs, that’s important in Florida.

Tip: If your system has been freezing up, shutting off, leaking water, or not cooling well, mention it when scheduling so Beacon can plan the visit appropriately.
