Safety first

Step 1: Cancel the cycle and let the washer attempt to drain

If the washer stopped mid-cycle, press Cancel (or the equivalent on your model). Give it a few minutes to attempt to drain and unlock normally.

Step 2: Check for door closure and obstructions

Door lock errors can be triggered by something simple:

• Clothing caught between the door and gasket
• Detergent residue or buildup around the latch area

Remove any obstruction, close the door firmly, and try again.

Step 3: Inspect the latch and strike alignment

The lock reads “secure” when the door strike aligns correctly and the lock mechanism engages. Look for:

• Cracked or worn door strike
• A latch that doesn’t line up smoothly
• Signs the door is rubbing or not sitting flush

Quick test: Close the door and gently lift up on it. If it changes how it latches, alignment may be the issue.

Step 4: Try a power reset

If everything looks normal and the door closes firmly:

1. Unplug the washer (or turn it off at the breaker).
2. Wait 60 seconds.
3. Restore power and start a short cycle.

If Er, DL returns, the problem is likely the door lock assembly, wiring, or the control’s lock feedback circuit.
