Samsung Washer OE Error Code: What It Means & How to Fix It

On Samsung washers, OE means the washer can’t drain within the expected time. Usual culprits are a clogged drain filter/coin trap (on models that have one), a blocked or kinked drain hose, a standpipe/sink clog, or a jammed/weak drain pump. Start with these safe checks; if OE returns, we’ll see how Beacon can help.

Q: What should I try first?

A:

  1. Power off & unplug. If your model has a small service door at the bottom front, open it.
  2. Put down towels/pan. If equipped, pull the small drain hose to empty residual water.
  3. Unscrew and clean the drain filter/coin trap. Remove lint, coins, hair ties, labels, etc. Rinse and reinstall snugly.

Q: Could the drain hose or standpipe be the issue?

A: Yes. Make sure the hose isn’t kinked or jammed too far into the standpipe (that can cause siphoning/backflow). Typical standpipe height is about 30–96 inches per install specs. If draining to a sink, check the tailpiece/air gap for clogs.

Q: The pump hums but water won’t move—what then?

A: That’s often a jammed impeller or failing pump. After filter cleaning, run Drain & Spin. If OE returns or you hear grinding/humming, the drain pump or wiring needs service.

Q: Can detergent or load choices matter?

A: Yes. Oversuds slows draining—use HE detergent only and start with ½ cap for small/medium loads. Very heavy items can hold water; try Drain & Spin first, then rewash smaller, mixed loads.

Q: When should I call Beacon?

A: If OE comes back after filter cleaning and hose/standpipe checks—or the pump hums with no drain—book service. Our friendly technicians in yellow will test the drain pump, inspect wiring/pressure hose, verify siphon/standpipe height, and replace only what’s needed.
