WATER TRAPPED

StaceyClaire 6/10/2019

Dear KitchenAid, I have the same issue with water being trapped. I bought the full Kitchen aid set (which is beautiful - red, includes all attachments and adaptors/chargers) in Dubai as a gift for my husband, who used to be a chef. Sadly, I am afraid to use the chopper (which I love) because I fear it's unhygienic. Other than that, I love the Kitchenaid purchase but miss the chopper. It had saved me to much time until it got waterlogged. Can you help? Is there an updated version available? Stacey

Water trapped in lid!

Sicook 6/10/2019

While I have been loving this immersion blender, we started using the chopping attachment more recently and have discovered that the lid is filled with water! Nothing in the manual says to be careful of this or how to open it up to get the water out. I feel so disappointed!

What a disappointment. I have water stuck in the lid with no way to remove it. Contacted CS and they just gave me a link to buy a new one. So frustrated.

Don't you dare use it with any moisture!

Tommybball 3/20/2019

As every other review here notes, water WILL get trapped in the chopper lid and there is no way to get it out. Mold will build up inside. You can write to Kitchenaid customer service as another reviewer suggested below but they will no longer replace this chopper attachment anymore as it is older than 1 year even though the product is clearly defective and an actual hazard to your health. I know I'm not buying any KitchenAid products anymore and I won't recommend them to anyone I know. There is clearly enough evidence here to suggest that KitchenAid should have issued a recall.

Garbage Responses

Dissapointed#1 3/10/2019

We have this kit and have water in the top as well, in reading the reviews KitchenAid clearly does not care about these responses it is a horrible way to communicate with your clients, the only message you are sending is that you do not care!!! Copy / Pasting responses is one of the worst things you can do for customer service!!

Water stuck in the lid... then the lid broke

VinceDog 3/8/2019

I loved my food chopper attachment and used it regularly. I assumed that the water got stuck in the lid when my partner put it in the dishwasher- I'll have to apologise to him as it seems a common problem... But now I'm chopper-less and unhappy as the small bits of plastic that join onto the hand mixer has snapped off - and my chopper is now completely useless.

I bought my hand blender less than a year ago and everything works great EXCEPT for this part - water has become stuck inside and there's no way to get it out! I don't understand why this part is so shiddily made in comparison to all the other kitchenaid appliances

Disappointing

Ninniberg 1/3/2019

I was very excited to receive the set this is a part of and had a great time using it. Unfortunately this product only lasted a couple of uses, now I have the same problem as everyone else: water in the lid, it's jamming and making loud noises. It's now unusable and small plastic pieces fall into whatever you put in it when you try and use it. Very disappointed.

same as everyone else plus!

rachsned 1/1/2019

I have had the chopper attachment for a few years. The lid sticks and won't come off, then, when you are about to start again, gathering your ingredients, it opens! Also, we have had water in the lid for ages, and still use it as the water doesn't seem to come out, it is stuck there, though it doesn't feel good to use it with water in it.My extra problem is that just this last time I used it the lid started popping off during operation, which caused the clear plastic to shear away from the middle of the inside of the container, so I had chopped food mixed with clear plastic shards. Not happy!

Z├╝rich Mum 12/12/2018

I have just bought this hand blender and have the exact same issue as many of the reviewers: water trapped in the lid. This issue was reported on this site 4 years ago and kitchenaid are still selling this part with the same flaw. Do you not pass this feedback on to your designers?

DrBliss 12/10/2018

We love the kitchen aid blender and have made many delicious pastes and dips, but we also have water stuck in the lid! It's very frustrating and a bit scary, I don't want to use it - water and electricity don't mix!

Same Problems

afish 12/10/2018

I've had my immersion blender for over two years and overall, I love it. But this little attachment is the worst part about it. Like everyone else mentions, there has been water trapped in the lid since I first used it, and the cup of the attachment developed a big crack in the bottom after about 4 uses. I was still risking using it despite the water, but now the crack has gotten so bad that if I'm blending any type of liquid it just runs out of the bottom. I came to the site to see if I could get a replacement (also thinking that maybe I was just too hard on the little thing), only to be disappointed by the reviews that everyone is having the exact same issues. I really wish they would improve this attachment, it could be so great but these problems really ruin it.

Shawn141 11/21/2018

We purchased the kit, the chopper the hand blender and whisk. We loved the food chopper, sometimes the lid would stick, but overall it was good. However the bowl is now cracked. I just need a new container, I don't need a blade or the lid. We handwash the lid, so we don't have the water issue.

Water Retainef In The Attachment Lid

RuthMcMiilan 11/18/2018

Have been a user of kitchenaid products for a decade. The chopper worked fine at first until water accumulated in the lid attachment. There appears to be no way to remove this water, without breaking the lid. This water is unlikely to be safe from a health perspective. Rendering the product unsuable. How could the testing of this product prelaunch not identify this issue?

Why is there water trapped in the lid?

ctgfromaz 11/7/2018

I use this product and for a long time I would just wipe it off and hope or the best. Then I started hand washing it and rinsing it off quickly and now there is water trapped in the lid. I can't use it because it seems like all the yuck will get in the food. It doesn't say anywhere not to put in water. I'm very disappointed and will now be looking for a new product from elsewhere.

Worked well until water became trapped in the lid

lisacooks 10/12/2018

I received this chopper as part of a set including the immersion blender. It was convenient to use and served its purpose, but recently I noticed that water was trapped in the lid. Various attempts to draw the water out have failed. As I'm afraid that potentially moldy water may leak into my food, this chopper is no longer usable. Hopefully future redesigns will allow for disassembly of the lid or air-vents so that water can be removed.

why?? 10/3/2018

The top will not come off. I have tried everything from putting it in the freezer (your staff's suggestion) and putting it in the sun but it has been over 2 months now that I haven't been able to use it due to not able to get the top of the chopper off.

Water in attachment

NothappyJan 10/2/2018

I bought the Hand Blender 3 speed model which came with this chopper attachment. I was very happy with it until of course I encountered the same problem as everyone else. After repeated use, I now have water stuck in the lid which I can't get out. I've looked online and have contacted customer service, but there doesn't seem to be a fix. I'm outside my warranty period, so am now left with a dud.

Great water container!

MattZRH 7/25/2018

After two hand washing cycles it took water inside, and retained it ever since. Same problem as others describe below. Tried drying it with hairdryer, left it in the sun, spend weeks in bowl of rice, all but to no avail - water still holds inside, and now it stinks. Recommend as a water retainer, also as a child toy, do not recommend as food chopper.

Hmmmmm... not very happy right now.

kyriacos 4/20/2018

This item seemed like a reasonably good purchase until I actually started using it. Yesterday, the bottom of the mixing cup cracked open spilling my smoothie all over the the place. So today, I used the food chopper accessory to make my smoothie, only problem there is I CANT GET THE STINKIN' LID OFF to actually drink said smoothie. Whoever approved this piece of garbage obviously never used it. I've been using kitchen aid products for years and I've come to expect much higher quality standards than this. Epic fail!

Terrible product, even worse customer service

Ninag 3/23/2018

I just experienced the same problem as everyone else with the top of this thing. It's full of water. I emailed customer service and they sent me an email back with the cleaning instructions, telling me they told me not to immerse in water. Well, I DIDN'T immerse anything in water. I simply washed it with under the running faucet, which to me is very different then immersion. They didn't care and since I've had it for over a year, they said I just need to buy another one for $29. Seriously??? This is a cheap plastic top that can't possibly cost them more then a few dollars to produce. I will not be buying any more kitchen aid products. Why would you when competitors such as Cuisinart and Breville provide such excellent customer service.

Separating bowl from top

Jenkin52 1/17/2018

My wife was using this for the first time ( I purchased it and hadn't used the chopper) and came to me with the chopper stuck together. I thought it was screwed together and was unable to get it apart. I sluethed the internet and perused you tube hoping for a solution. Nada. Once I determined that it was a press fit- I inserted a small regular blade screw driver into the joint between the two parts and gently twisted. Viola!! Instant separation. I worked the screwdriver around the circumference of the bowl and it released. It appears that if you twist the bowl and top together at any point it binds and is extemely difficult to get apart. I hope this helps someone.

Poor adapter/ attachment design

cat_teeth 1/12/2018

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Like many of the reviews below, I had the same issue of not being able to remove the lid from the adapter cup... the blade is forever trapped inside rendering this handy feature absolutely useless. My husband and I both tried opening with several jar openers, rubber gloves & clamps, even prayers! Nothing works to get this thing open. It's like it was designed to be useless. Huge disappointment and giant waste of money. No longer a Kitchen aid customer after I toss this into the trash.

Works well some of the time

Aaron5481 10/22/2017

I bought the 3 speed kit for my wife as a gift. At first everything worked great and she loved it. Now the chopper adapter has water inside and works intermittently. Sometimes it takes two or three attempts to get it to engage and spin the blade. After reading the reviews on here it is obvious this is a big problem. We only handwash any of the attachments making sure the chopper adapter is never left submerged in water so I am not sure how the water is getting in. I am interested in getting her a replacement chopper but only if the water issue has been resolved.

Just like so many others - tossed everything (came as a set) in to wash before using. Other stuff is fine and works well. Chopper lid is full of water and now unuseable.
